★★★Guardian Spirit of … : British-America, United States of America
★★★ Diplomacy: N/A … Homeland
★★★Physical Age: 2 – 8 [Age of Discovery], 17 [7 Years War/French-Indian War], 18 [War for Independence]
★★★ Musket: The Windsong
★★★ Character: A strange young man with wheat-colored hair and blue eyes like the sky from the land that gave birth to him. He grew up abnormally quickly, while it takes other of his kind centuries.
Alfred spent his early years wandering around the North American lands to figure out where he belonged to; though he eventually returned to the Virginian Algonquians whom he was born amongst. Due to his appearance, the timing of his birth, and ambiguity of his heritage, some felt he was a bad omen of what was to come. He lived with the Powhatan Confederation until Arthur of the British Empire took care of him.
As a toddler, he nearly perished during the Anglo-Spaniard Wars when his ruling state did not send him supplies for years. Under the Salutary Neglect Acts, Arthur hardly ever came to the Americas, and Alfred lived a lonely childhood in complete isolation, like many British colonists. Consequently, Alfred does not understand people, the spirits, and both of their customs. He probably never will.

★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : The British Empire
★★★ Diplomacy: Ally [7 Years War], Enemy [War for Independence]
★★★ Physical Age: 17 [Age of Discovery], 20 [7 Years War]
★★★ Musket: The Viceroy
★★★ Character: … a man of astonishing military-might. Though the 7 Years War had stretched his forces thin throughout the world. Following the Battle of Monongahela, the most disastrous battle in British-American history, he quickly sailed to Alfred. Expecting to see a hapless child, he was shocked to see that after a few decades, his charge had grown into an independent young man.
Though after being reacquainted and redeveloping a tight bond through battles, their relationship would take a nasty dive. Following the war, Arthur needed revenue to make up for his country's failing economy, and he fearful that Alfred would break away. Thus he enforced unpopular laws in which the younger spirit could not understand, such as the Sugar Acts, the Proclamation and etc. Though the two had a violent fall out during the Second Continental Congress, Arthur was convinced Alfred was a loyalist at heart.

★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : The French Empire
★★★ Diplomacy: Enemy [7 Years War], Ally [War for Independence]
★★★ Human Age: 22 [War for Independence]
★★★Musket: "Le sang d'un rival" [Rival's Blood]
★★★Character: … a man of passion and pride. His is flirtatious and flowery to point of ridicule; however, it would be a mistake to underestimate his military prowess. He is a rival of Arthur's and they have been warring against each other for centuries. During the French-Indian War, he is the primary antagonist who combats Arthur over Alfred and the territories Alfred watches over. After losing the war, he would later return to North America after he was charmed by an American spokesperson named Franklin. While he does not join the fight until late during the War for Independence, he provides much funding and supply support to Alfred.
★★★Role of the French Empire: The American Revolution was mildly popular in France by the general populace and the intelligentsia. The young United States had no allies or arms to rely on, so it turned to France. While France had no direct interest in the cause, it was a fabulous opportunity for them to contest Britain by helping to create a new British opponent. France secretly supported the Americans for a period of time, which helped the Americans survive British onslaughts early on.

★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : Kingdom of Prussia (honorary appearance for the Prussian war hero, Von Steuben)
★★★ Human Age: 23 [War for Independence]
★★★ Musket: Der Kurfürst [The Prince].
★★★ Character: A nutty war-mongering hooligan who was hired by France to train Alfred and his soldiers (he also found the idea of such a large war exciting). Gilbert gives Alfred no slack while training him to fight against Arthur. Though it may be hard for most people to take him seriously, for better or for worse, he was a major influence on Alfred.
★★★ Historical Figure: Friedrich von Steuben A Prussian soldier who was hired by the French to train the newly formed army for the United States of America. He was a quirky and eccentric character that loved to swear; however, he was undeniably talented. When cursing at the undisciplined Continental Army failed, he hired an officer to translate his swearing into English. Despite of his strange, loud and bizarre behavior – as stated before, he was a talented leader who designed key programs for the Continental Army involving the usages of bayonets, sanitation and form.
★★★ Please Note: The Kingdom of Prussia had little or nothing to do with the American Revolution as presented in-game. The presence of "Prussia" is a homage and nod to a famous war hero during the war, Von Steuben.

★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : Poland (honorary appearance for the Polish war hero, Kazimierz Pułaski)
★★★ Diplomacy: Ally [War for Independence]
★★★ Human Age: 22 [War for Independence]
★★★ Musket: Jastrząb (The Hawk)
★★★ Character: A bit shy and put-off at first, though he will never stop bothering you once he is use to your presence. After a nasty spat with his people's elite, Feliks fled from country to country, yet no other spirit would give him asylum. Feliks was interested in the war over on the continent of North America, so he enlisted (also to give him a place to stay until he felt like returning home).
Out of all the characters in the game, Feliks is the only person who has access to cavalry at all times during [CONFLICT] battles, which makes him a very valuable asset. Outside of [CONFLICTS] he has the highest agility out of all the characters.
★★★ Historical Figure: Kazimierz Pułaski is known as the "Father of American Cavalry." While in his country, he was a military commander for the Bar Confederation and took arms against the Russian domination of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The fight failed, and he was forced by the Russians to pledge that he would never return to the confederate cause. Of course, he broke it an fought against Russians once more. He was later accused of treason for planning the kidnapping of the King of Poland during the year of 1771. Pulanski was not only made a public enemy, but he was condemned for execution. He tried to find refuge throughout Europe, but no one would accept him. After an illegal passage to Turkey, he was recruited by Lafayette to aid the Patriot cause. Pulanski left to North America and saved the life of General George Washington, and was promoted to the rank of general.
In history, he died at the Battle of Savannah. A very badass quote of his: "I came here, where freedom is being defended, to serve it, and to live or die for it."
★★★ Please Note: Poland had little or nothing to do with the War for Independence as presented in-game. The presence of "Poland" is a homage and nod to a famous war hero Kazimierz Pułaski, who is one out of seven honorary citizens of the United States, and also died fighting for the cause.

★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : Lithuania (honorary appearance for the Polish war hero, Tadeusz Kosciuszko)
★★★Diplomacy: Ally [American Revolutionary War]
★★★ Human Age: 20 [American Revolution]
★★★ Weapon of Choice: Rytdienos Aušra (Tomorrow's Dawn)
★★★ Character: A kind-hearted and intellectual man who fought many battles in his area and is very seasoned and skilled in the art of warfare. Curious and inspired by ideas on independence, he volunteers in the Continental Army and lends his expertise on military engineering and strategy. Out of all the people that join Alfred, Toris is the only one that joined due to ideology.
★★★ Historical Figure: Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kosciuszko was a Polish war hero to Poland, Lithuania, Belarus and the United States. He fought in the American Revolutionary War, Polish-Russian War of 1792, and Kosciuszko Uprising. He was born in what is now Belarus, but the territory was once within the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, a part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. He arrived in Colonial America in August 30th, 1776 on his own accord and served as a volunteer. He was moved by the United State's Declaration of Independence because it encompassed everything in which he believed in. He was very close friends with the main author of the document, Thomas Jefferson, whom he visited on an extended basis to have deep philosophical discussions with.
★★★ Please Note: Lithuania had little or nothing to do with the American Revolution as presented in-game. The presence of "Lithuania" is a homage and nod to a famous war hero during the ear, Tadeusz Kosciuszko.
★★★ Please Note 2: Sorry, I used Toris because Feliks is already in the game.

 |
★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : The Dutch Republic [Holland]
★★★ Diplomacy: Ally
★★★ Age: 21 [American Revolution]
★★★Character: … a shrewd and sharp businessman who is sure concerned about the money. Without asking, Govert converted Alfred's storage into his new shop and doesn't mind smoking up the room - much to Alfred's dismay.
Like Antonio, Govert does not help Alfred in combat; however, that does not make him a useless addition to the party. He arrived to the Americas after Francis invited him under the guise of a trading company to covertly supply Alfred with weaponry and supplies from Francis and Antonio. He also upgrades the main character's muskets throughout the game (for a price, of course!).
He is also upset that Alfred does not remember him or how much money Govert invested in Alfred during his infancy to win him over from Arthur.
★★★ Role of the Dutch Republic: The Dutch Republic, like France and Spain, went to war with Britain for two years. While their aid was not direct, it was effective and very important. The rebellious colonies had little supply in comparison to the British Empire. It was with the help up the Dutch Republic, which disguised itself as business companies, that the Americans received many valuable supplies.

~Antonio Fernandez Carriedo~
 |
★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : Spanish Empire
★★★ Army Enlistment: Non-Combatant
★★★ Diplomacy: Unofficial Ally [War for Independence]
★★★ Age: 23 [AWar for Independence]
★★★Character: A cheerful fellow who is more interested in watching Arthur's demise than helping Alfred - though he is not quite as curt about his intentions as Gorvert. Unlike France, Antonio does not fight in the mainland, as his expertise is with marine combat. Away from the fields of the 13 Colonies, Antonio does his share of battling against the British Empire, while covertly assisting Alfred financially. He is seen lousing around Alfred's Virginian estate growing tomatoes. Like Alfred, he is easy going and a bit of a country bumpkin himself, despite experience with world travel and wars.
★★★ Historic Role of the Spanish Empire: Spain actively supported the colonial rebels during the War for Independence by funding a company that provided critical supplies. The Empire also financed the Siege of Yorktown. Their primary interest in aiding the future Americans was to weaken the British Empire, who had caused Spain much trouble during the Seven Years' War.

 |
★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : Various German States under the Holy Roman Empire
★★★ Army Enlistment: British Imperial Army [Mercenaries]
★★★ Diplomacy: Enemy [American Revolutionary War]
★★★ Age: 18 [American Revolution]
★★★ Musket: Der Kaiser [The Emperor].
★★★Character: A stern and man who is a formidable soldier and is the younger brother of Gilbert. He is swift and efficient and proves himself well. He has nothing against the Revolution, personally. In fact, a sizable portion of his people lives in America and following the war, many of his soldiers would remain and settle in America. However, Ludwig chose to fight for the highest bidder—Arthur. He is a representation for the Hessian mercenaries Britain hired during the war.
★★★Historical Figure: Soldiers were 18th-century German regiments hired through their rulers by the British Empire. Though used in several conflicts, they are most widely associated with combat operations in the Revolutionary War. Britain hired 30,000 of them. They were called Hessians, because 12,992 of the total 30,067 men came from Hesse-Kassel.
★★★ Please Note: "Germany" [as it was not an established Nation at the time] had little to do with the War for Independence. There was just a large presence of soldiers who fought during the war.

~Matthieu Williams~
 |
★★★ Guardian Spirit of … : New France, later Canada
★★★ Diplomacy: Enemy [French-Indian War], Enemy [War for Independence]
★★★ Age: 18 [7 Years War], 19 [War for Independence]
★★★Character: Matthieu is the older brother of Alfred, though they have never met or interacted much in the past few years. His territory lies north of the 13 Colonies and unlike Alfred (who generally lived independent and fended himself), Matthieu was raised under the watchful eye of Francis who was much better at diplomacy than Arthur.
Though Matthieu would fight Alfred in both wars, the Revolution was a difficult choice for him personally and for the people that he watched after. He sympathized with Alfred; however, he found no good reason to rebel against Arthur, who allowed Matthieu to keep his language and lifestyle out of benevolence or bargain.
★★★ Historic Role of Canada: Canadian sentiments were divided over the American War for Independence. Some expressed sympathy, while many others expressed disapproval or ambivalence. On occassion, a few would help the rebels to the South, but most sided with the British Empire.

Lucille
Birth: 1752
Character: .. a beautiful black mare that Alfred found injured. She wandered on his estate with a limp when the spirit nursed her back to health. Though he initially took care of her, she grew quickly and acts as a surrogate mother Alfred never had. Though she adores Alfred, she - like many creatures around Alfred in the future - harbors a distaste and jealousy towards Arthur and spits at the Englishmen when Alfred isn't paying attention. Even when he notices, he claims Lucille is just shy. No matter where Alfred travels to, or is taken to, she follows him and saves her master many times throughout the two wars.
